Home Field Advantage

Home Field Advantage

Happy Tuesday reader! I apologize for not being able to write last week's post as I was quite occupied with school-related business, but I am so glad that Tina's Typical Tuesdays is back on track now and I can continue with my weekly posts! Here's this week's Quote of the Week:

"You do not find the happy life. You make it."

Have you ever heard of Home Field Advantage? If not, HFA is the term coined to describe the benefit that teams, mainly sports teams, have when they play a game on their home field. This advantage could be for many reasons, some of which may be that they feel more confident because, to them, their home field represents winning and success, or perhaps they don't have to suffer from jet lag or tiredness due to traveling. But how does this translate to positivity during this COVID-19 pandemic? Well, HFA could also be described as the benefit we, teachers, students, parents, and more, have whilst learning and working from home! Instead of thinking of quarantine as confinement, we can think of it as an edge to our game. An obvious reason why working/studying from home is beneficial is because we feel confident and comfortable at home. At school, there is a great deal of peer pressure to look and act the same way as other students. But home field advantage allows us to be ourselves and work in our best ways.

Let's begin with a few reasons why HFA is such an important part of our mindset during quarantine. For starters, we definitely feel more secure and sure about ourselves at home than at school because there is less peer pressure and more space for us to work with a higher rate of productivity. Not only do we feel less stress to be alike with others, we also have people at home who are unconditionally rooting for us through thick and thin; our family. Your family is comparable to a teams' fans in the stadium. Having supporters is crucial to success anywhere, especially during quarantine when everyone has to lean on each other to get through this challenging situation.

In addition, working/studying from home represents that you are working from somewhere that you know best. It's your territory, and you know it better than anyone else. This means that you know where you function best and where you will have a higher rate of productivity in your physical house. Even though knowing your house well doesn't seem like quite an essential tool for utilizing HFA to it's fullest, it's still a very valuable ability because it's better to get one piece of work done in 30 minutes rather than in 3 hours.

All things considered, in person school may overall be a more effective and productive way to learn, but by using HFA during at home learning and/or working, we are doing our best with the materials we have at hand. This positive stance on at home distance learning and/or working will absolutely help us cope with any issues in the long run because it helps us have an open mindset about letting others in so that they can help us. Anyways, thank you so much for reading my blog, Tina's Typical Tuesdays! We are finally back on track, and that makes me so glad. Thanks again!
