Am I Doing Enough? - Into the Mind of Productivity Anxiety

Image
Am I Doing Enough?  Into the Mind of Productivity Anxiety Hello readers! Apologies for not posting last week; August is going to be particularly busy as I am preparing to move at the end of the month. Wish me luck! “The time you enjoy wasting isn’t wasted time.” - John Lennon.      A s I've grown older and therefore busier, I've often found myself staring out the window on a Sunday morning with what feels like a very heavy brick chaining my heart down, making my mouth dry and my stomach twist and turn uneasily. Half of my brain, the machine-like half that doesn't appear anywhere close to sputtering, stopping, and taking a break, is scowling vindictively at its counterpart, the moiety who refuses to give up my only day off in the week and just wants to go out, shop with friends, roam the city.       "Are you seriously considering giving yourself a pat on the back and a day off just for the pathetic amount of work you've done recently?" Half 1 scoff...

Madam Secretary: The Model Modern Woman

Image
Madam Secretary: The Model Modern Woman Good morning and happy Tuesday! It appears that this will be my final blog article of July 2022, so almost a farewell to summer too, unfortunately. Luckily, I have just the perfect Quote of the Week for this time of the year: "Summertime is always the best of what might be." - Charles Bowden     F rom its pilot episode in 2014 to its series finale in 2019, Madam Secretary has captured the hearts and minds of innumerable viewers. Fans who have witnessed the rather unconventional State Department—and, spoiler alert, eventual White House—reign of Elizabeth McCord know that she doesn't operate like the "usual DC bureaucrat" (as so fondly put by her dear husband Professor Henry McCord); instead, Bess manages to maneuver the world of self-serving agendas and clay feet with a unique sort of moral grace. For instance, in spite of the usual (and more) party turbulence within DC, she opts to remain centrist, eventually convincing...

"A Good Guy with a Gun Stops a Bad Guy with a Gun" — Debunked

Image
"A Good Guy with a Gun Stops a Bad Guy with a Gun" — Debunked. Hello readers! Welcome back to yet another week of frustrated ranting about unnecessary problems in America—but other than that, I hope all of your summers have been as good as they can be. Without further ado, here's the Quote of the Week: "The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking." - Albert Einstein.      O ver the course of this generation, before today's youth even learnt what a syllable was, mass shootings have been a constant reminder of a plague that has found a nest in America's Constitution, a plague that officials and organisations across the country have recognised as a literal public health crisis. Still, day after day, continuous reports of (typically) young, unstable men with guns spraying bullets into public spaces, from schools/universities to grocery stores to the Las Vegas Strip, are re...

We the People.

Image
We the People.     R oe v. Wade has been overturned. For many of my young readers, that sentence most likely did not have the mind-blowing, smack-in-the-face impact it had on older citizens, especially those who first witnessed the landmark case in 1973 in which the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that abortion rights are constitutionally—and therefore federally—protected under the 14th Amendment. Since that ruling, Roe v. Wade has protected women for nearly fifty years, women who chose to terminate their pregnancies because they had their bodies criminally violated, or were not equipped to raise a child, or simply did not want a child, among a plethora of all valid reasons. Of course, "pro-life" politicians and advocates chant about abortion being murder despite the fact that fetuses, unborn organisms , cannot think before twenty-seven weeks (approximately the length of two trimesters of a pregnancy, during which women could previously have a legal abortion). ...

Get to Know the Writer: About Me - Updated Version!

Image
Hello TTT readers! I know it's been quite a while since I last posted an article, and even longer since I introduced myself as Tina CP, author of Tina's Typical Tuesdays. While a lot has changed, I'll start with the basics (but if you haven't read my initial "Get to Know the Writer," I'd recommend doing that first)! To begin, I am a thirteen year old, soon-to-be freshman from sunny California. My interests and passions, as listed in my previous about me article, have stayed relatively the same, but over the last two years, I've picked up a knack for writing poetry and have gotten more involved in movements I feel strongly about. I've also honed in on my skills as a leader this past year as my middle school's ASB President and as a California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) ambassador. In a matter of months, I'll also be beginning my journey outside of the Golden State as a part of Phillips Academy Andover's Class of 2026 (go ...

Asian Hate and Awareness

Image
The Asian Hate in America + Awareness Good afternoon readers! I am back after a long hiatus, but I hope to start updating again. Anyhow, happy belated President's Day! Here's the Quote of the Week: "If you cannot be a poet, be the poem." - David Carradine (This quote is one of my favourites! Leave what you think it means in the comments :)) W hen the COVID-19 pandemic first arose during March 2020, several caucasian Americans began to dub the coronavirus as the "China Virus" or the "Wuhan Virus," including then president Donald Trump. This evidently discriminating moniker began to spread throughout America and made it to the ears of white supremacists and anti-Asian racists alike. They blamed Asians (specifically Asian-Americans whose ethnicity were Chinese) for the initiation of the global pandemic and its effects on the US. Many other politicians and significant government officials had also spoken about Asians and people of Asian descent in a co...

Affirmations

Affirmations Good afternoon reader! I sincerely apologise for having not posted in nearly one month, mostly due in part to further schoolwork and an increasingly busy schedule, but I am hoping to get back on track soon. Please enjoy this week's post, and here's the Quote of the Week: "Believe you can and you're halfway there." - Theodore Roosevelt We have all been told before to believe in ourselves, despite whatever misfortunes that may plague us. But what we have not often been told is  how  to begin on that journey of knowing your self worth and what you can do. One of the most helpful methods ...

Notice of Absence

Hi readers! I am so sorry for not posting this week, but I have been extremely busy with my schoolwork, extracurriculars, and more. Hence, this is a break notice of absence. I will be back next Tuesday though, so stay tuned! Thank you for understanding!  - Tina P. P.S,  Happy start of October!

COVID 19 Pandemic - Everything Has A Purpose

Image
COVID 19 Pandemic - Everything Has A Purpose Hello reader! I hope you are all doing well with your online schools and work! Here's your Quote of the Week: "It is never too late to be what you might have been." - George Eliot Over the course of eight, long months, the novel coronavirus has rapidly taken control of the world. As a young tween watching these horrific events unfold, I hated the COVID19 pandemic so very much. It restricted me from seeing the people I loved and nearly drove me mad with the thought of having to keep 6 feet away, always wear a mask, and having to stare at a never ending screen for the rest of my life. In sum, it felt like a big, fat punishment.  But last night, as I lie in my comfy bed trying to drift my self to sleep, I reflected on everything that occurred during quarantine. For starters, so many of my idols passed away, leaving me feeling empty and wondering what the future will be like without them. But then I realized how many things probabl...

Home Field Advantage

Image
Home Field Advantage Happy Tuesday reader! I apologize for not being able to write last week's post as I was quite occupied with school-related business, but I am so glad that Tina's Typical Tuesdays is back on track now and I can continue with my weekly posts! Here's this week's Quote of the Week: "You do not find the happy life. You make it." - Camilla Eyring Kimball Have you ever heard of Home Field Advantage? If not, HFA is the term coined to describe the benefit that teams, mainly sports teams, have when they play a game on their home field. This advantage could be for many reasons, some of which may be that they feel more confident because, to them, their home field represents winning and success, or perhaps they don't have to suffer from jet lag or tiredness due to traveling. But how does this translate to positivity during this COVID-19 pandemic? Well, HFA could also be described as the benefit we , teachers, students, parents, and more, have whils...

Notice of Absence

Hello my dear readers! This message is a brief notice of absence as I was not able to find time to create a new post this past week. This is due to the start of online school, as I have been quite busy preparing a new schedule and taking care of many matters related to my beginning 7th grade online. I hope you all can understand that this past week has been particularly tumultuous for me, and that, as much as I would have loved to have written you all a new post to read, I could not. I was, however, able to prepare a Quote of The Week so that you, my readers, can have a little something to get you through the rest of the week! Here it is: "Nothing is impossible. The word itself says 'I'm possible!'" - Audrey Hepburn Again, thank you all so much for understanding, and I cannot wait to write for you again next Tuesday!  - Tina P.

Positive Thinking - How Could it Potentially Help Your Business?

Image
Positive Thinking How Could it Potentially Help Your Business?   Hello reader! Welcome back to Tina's Typical Tuesdays! I hope you've enjoyed my last blog post, "Get to Know the Writer: About Me", but today, I will finally be starting my legitimate blog posts! As promised, here is the weekly "Quote of the Week": "Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Bill Gates, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo  da  Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." - Unknown W hen I think about positive thinking, I normally tend to believe that it will have just an overall better effect on my life because I feel happier and more stress-free. However, has it ever occurred to you that perhaps positive thinking could possibly even improve your business? This is because of multiple reasons, one of them being that positive thinking has been proven to aid ...

Get to Know The Writer: About Me

Image
Hello reader! This is not really a blog post, as this is just for you to get to know me before you begin to read some of my real blog posts! Firstly, my name is Tina CP and I'm an eleven year old from California. However, I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to CA when I was very young. I love to play the violin and am a student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (Pre-College Programme). I also speak Spanish, French, and Vietnamese. A few hobbies of mine include running, shopping, reading, designing clothes, and being a huge Harry Potter fanatic! Another thing that I love to do is traveling and learning about new places. My favorite place that I have ever traveled to is New York City because I really like how the city always feels so alive and exciting!       But the one thing I love more than anything else are my family and friends. I have one older brother, Theodore, or Theo. He and I are nearly exact opposites, but we still som...
